The Chert CLI is an npm-installed connector that runs alongside your agent. You write the agent integration; the package handles the receiver. You do not need to build or expose a public webhook endpoint.
Private preview: the package is supplied by Chert as a reviewed npm tarball. It is not published on the npm registry. Enrollment requires a Chert-enabled pilot. The current CLI supports inbound audio only.

Choose your workflow

Both modes use Chert’s BYOR call path. create-room is a specialized adapter; it does not work with every existing LiveKit agent automatically.

What the package handles

  • Authenticated connection to Chert, without a public receiver URL.
  • Call decisions, time limits, and duplicate requests.
  • Durable call-event delivery and recovery after a restart.
  • Project and line enrollment, explicit activation, and diagnostics.
Your agent still runs as its own process. The CLI does not start or restart it. In BYOR mode, your application also owns session readiness, credentials, and verified cleanup. The package includes TypeScript callback types; no separate SDK or Docker container is required.

From install to a call

Install the package → initialize your mode → connect your agent → check readiness → enroll one project and line → activate → receive a test call. The preview supports one line per enrolled project and one active call per connector. Installing or running the CLI does not activate a line.
